What's in Bloom in Heat of Summer
Saturday, August 14, 2021 11 a.m.
The gardens at Tranquil Lake Nursery are known for their abundant and colorful blooms and distinctive foliage that carries the interest in the garden from early spring throughout the summer and into the fall. Warren Leach, garden designer and co-owner of Tranquil Lake Nursery will take you on a walking tour of the gardens, during the dog-days of summer to showcase a diverse palette of common and lesser know perennials, grasses, shrubs and trees that stand up to the summer heat with foliage and distinctive flowers that add interesting architecture, structure, texture, form, pattern and freshness to the sunny or shady border. He will also offer design tips to help you make pleasing plant combinations using complementary foliage and texture for the hot summer border.
At Tranquil Lake Nursery, you will also see more than 8 acres of fields of Siberian Iris and Japanese Iris and daylilies blooming in the fields. The nursery is the largest grower of these beautiful perennials in the northeast, with over 2,000 cultivars of daylilies in our fields. The display gardens showcase the iris and daylilies as well as a diverse selection of perennials, herbs, vines, shrubs, small trees, grasses and tender perennials. All walks are free and open to the public. The May walks and will be held on Sundays at 1:00 p.m. The August tour will be held on Saturday August 14 at 11 a.m.
