Sunday Garden WalkS:
Garden Design Exploration
Join us for one of our Sunday Garden Walks scheduled across the season in May, June, August, and September at 1:00 p.m. Each Garden Walk will focus on design and the plants that are making a showing on the day of the tour. Numerous trees, shrubs, vines, perennials, grasses, and annuals that come into their own throughout the spring and summer provide gorgeous bloom, color, structure, and buds that ignite the borders. Over the past 37 years, Warren Leach has designed and built all the gardens at Tranquil Lake Nursery. They provide interest from early spring through the fall. There are also many built garden features such as paths, bogs, benches, purple posts, fences, stone walls, and more that captivate visitors as they wander around the grounds. Warren will spotlight favorite plants, horticultural techniques, and design features that he has used to solve problems and create a beautiful display.
The nursery is open for visitation from noon to 3 p.m. on the day of each Sunday Garden Walk. No daylilies or iris will be dug during these scheduled open hours, but they may be ordered in advance for pickup on these days. Or order daylilies on the day of the tour for pickup at a later date. Container plants are available for sale.
At Tranquil Lake Nursery, you will also see more than 8 acres of fields of Siberian Iris, Japanese Iris, and daylilies blooming in the fields. The nursery is the largest grower of these beautiful perennials in the northeast, with over 2,000 cultivars of daylilies in our fields. The display gardens showcase iris and daylilies as well as a diverse selection of perennials, herbs, vines, shrubs, small trees, grasses, and tender perennials. All walks are free and open to the public.
